Our Woven Wall: The Process Begins

posted Mar 28, 2014, 11:41 AM by Taya Noland
This week, with the inspiration and tutelage of Max's mom, Tara, we began our weaving project.  Tara has adapted the project from Stephanie Allgood's project.  We are weaving and wrapping CDs with fabric and yarn to create a textured textile wall mural in our breezeway.

We would like to invite our families to contribute in several ways.  First, we would love donations of CDs, yarn and fabric.  Spring is the perfect time to clean out those old stashes!

Second, we would like to send home materials and a tutorial so that your family can create some pieces for our wall!  Or, if you have time, we'd love for you to come in and sit with the children and work on weaving or wrapping here at school.

The children and teachers have enjoyed this project during our quiet spring break days.  We can't wait to involve the rest of you!  Tara says, "It's an opportunity of a lifetime!  A chance to make a contribution to the betterment of the planet!  Make this work a brighter warmer place!"  No special skills required.
